From beginners to advanced
Our German language courses are offered throughout the year at all levels of learning, from A1 German for Beginners to C2 German for advanced learners. On your arrival at Lichtenberg-Kolleg we assess your placement in order to give your teacher an accurate picture of your skills as well as your gaps. All of our teachers are highly qualified foreign language teachers with degrees in German as a foreign language and related disciplines.
A1- Beginners courses
Beginners courses in German are a special challenge to both student and teacher. Right from the start we want you to learn the German language correctly and in a structured way, enabling you to achieve success in learning as soon as possible.
From the first German class for beginners, our students learn in a very easy way to make themselves understood when their conversational partners speak slowly and clearly (and are ready to help).
A2 –Basic Level
In this level grammatical structures are expanded. Students learn to master past tense and conditional clauses. You learn to understand texts and to communicate on topics relating to family, work, everyday social activities.
In addition to the practice units in the course book Berliner Platz neu 2 we also introduce authentic print, visual and audio sources.
B1 – Pre-Intermediate Level
At the end of this level you will have learned to understand the main points of clear standard language on familiar matters regularly encountered in work, school, leisure, travel, etc. By now you can produce simple and connected texts on familiar topics.
You can describe experiences, events, dreams, hopes and ambitions, and briefly give reasons and explanations for opinions and plans.
B2 – Intermediate Level
By the end of this course you can understand the main ideas of complex texts on both concrete and abstract topics, including technical discussions in your field of specialisation.
Your scope of German vocabulary and grammatical structures will be further expanded Course starts from the texts and exercises in the College manual em neu Hauptkurs.and also uses additional material from other print or electronic media.
C1 - Upper Intermediate
Completing this course level means you can understand a wide array of demanding, longer texts and.recognise implicit meaning. You can express yourself fluently and sponataneously without much obvious searching for expressions.
You can use language flexibly and effectively for social, academic and professional purposes.
C2 – Advanced Level
Reaching the end of this level you have shown that you can understand virtually everything heard or read. You can summarise information from different written or spoken sources and reconstruct arguments and accounts in a clear and coherent presentation.
You can express yourself easily and precisely, differentiating finer shades of meaning even in more complex situations.
